de Blob 2 (360): COMPLETED!

With Back to the Future out of the way (at least until Telltale decide to actually release the next one) I returned to de Blob 2, which I was previously about a quarter of the way through. It’s really very good. It improves over the first game in several areas, mainly with fewer required “paint these building specific colours” missions, and some great 2D platforming sections. The fact that you can save after any checkpoint is a big improvement too, …

Hue Flowing (Steam Deck): COMPLETED!

This is a very simple platformer concept: explore, collect icons that allow you one additional air jump, then reach the area you can only get to once you’ve collected them all. But, it’s the way it is presented that is absolutely beautiful. The area you explore is blank, but as you move around you sort of slosh watercolour paint everywhere to colour it in. Like, if de Blob and The Unfinished Swan had a 2D platformer baby. You can wall …

Delivery from Deal Extreme

Have you ever bought anything from Deal Extreme? They’re the internet’s premier provider of shoddy Chinese tat. And quality Chinese tat, of course. Sometimes there are things I need to buy, and they’re the only place I can find it cheap, but then I end up adding other useless junk to the shopping basket while I’m there. A couple of weeks ago, my cheap-and-shoddy iPhone dock (bought from Deal Extreme) died, so I needed another. So back on the site …

A Boy and His Blob (Wii)

I started this last week, but for some reason Professor Layton took over and I didn’t play it for a few days. I was pretty sure I was nearing the end, but it seems that there’s at least one more set of levels after Blobolonia… But I’m a bit ahead of myself. As a fan of the original game, I pre-ordered the DS remake of the game the moment it was announced. Which was in 2004 or something. But it …

The games of 2008

For four years now, I’ve kept a diary detailing the games I play. Part of the reason was to see how many games I buy (and to reduce this number), and how many I complete (and to increase this number). 2008 saw a drop in completed games – 33 compared to 61 in 2007. I don’t think this is bad, when you look at the games I’ve been completing. In 2007, there were quite a few shorter games, including 5 …

de Blob (Wii)

That’s 5 levels down now (and another couple of “secret” ones). I still can’t get over how much fun this is to play. There have been a couple of slightly challenging bits so far, but even when you fail a challenge you’re not punished – you just have to start them again, only anything you’ve already done is saved: e.g. You have to paint 20 buildings, you paint 19, then run out of time. You restart and 19 are still …

Advance Wars: Dual Strike: STRUCK DEAD!

Mission 27 – FINAL BATTLETASTIC!! And… it was easy. Too easy. So easy, in fact, I was convinced there was going to be some surprise at the end. Well, there was, but it didn’t involve any more fighting or anything. There were two fronts. I just let Rachel get on with the second front on her own, and she did a good job of seeing it off. That allowed me to concentrate on taking over towers and stuff on the …

Wuppo (Switch): COMPLETED!

I’d seen Wuppo on the eShop a few times and it looked like the sort of game I’d want to play – silly, nonsensical stuff. It reminded me a bit of Pikuniku, although is obviously very different, and then it was incredibly cheap so I folded and here we are. The story is (and apologies for getting lost in advance) that you are a Wum – a sort of blob creature – who lives in a hotel called The Wumhouse. …
